Last night the kids and I ventured to Safeco Field for the Mariners-Padres game. It was a somber day for major league baseball in general and the San Diego ballclub in particular: longtime Padre great Tony Gwynn passed away earlier in the day.
Not that the Padres cared much, but they came up on the short end of a 5-1 game. The hometown Mariners are now two games above .500.
The MLB playoffs are less than four months away. And the M’s have a puncher’s chance of making them.
