Today I joined my friends Chris White, Baron Kofoed and Burke Sheather for golf at Chambers Bay. The occasion was an event called “Fairway to the U.S. Open,” the first of many golf tournaments Chambers Bay plans to host in the two-year run-up to the 2015 U.S. Open. This event was a four-person Scramble hosted by the University of Washington-Tacoma. The guest of honor was course architect Robert Trent Jones.
The day was all-but spectacular. Perfect weather and great teammates playing some pretty stellar scramble golf. Our -17 total was good for second place overall. We would have tied for first had we not parred the last hole from 70 yards out, the first and only real blemish on our scorecard.
We’re heading to Chambers for Greenspan Cup next year. The following summer — the U.S. Open.
May be about time to start looking for tickets.
