Last year, Jeff Benezra and I took a year off from the Glendale Invitational to save a few bucks for our Scotland trip.
This year we were back at it — and very glad for it.
I played about as well as I can over the two-day tournament (76-74) and Benezra played well enough for us to come in second in the first flight (Mike Carlson/Mike Bacon) and about fifth overall. Of particular significance was our 73-point performance yesterday: it was the best score in our flight and netted us a cool $625. We also came in second in the putting contest, which had a new format this year — a 91-yard pitch contest in front of a couple hundred well-lubricated onlookers.
Not a bad way to spend a weekend.
